Diagnosing in 3D: Using CBCT as the Cornerstone for Accurate Diagnosis & Treatment

- Explore the 3D anatomy of the maxillofacial structures emphasizing the cervical region, paranasal sinuses and base of skull.
- Identify normal vs. abnormal anatomy by reviewing cases from UTHSCSA Dental School database
- Familiarize yourself with the fundamental principles to systematically review a CBCT volume and categorize by abnormality or pathosis to properly manage the patient
- Understand the risks posed by CBCT technology/ ionizing radiation and how to minimize exposure
- When to prescribe for a CBCT and our ethical and legal responsibilities that come with CBCT imaging
- Perform hands-on computer workshop on image processing, image manipulation and learn "tips and tricks" for efficient diagnosis
