HIPAA is coming! Are you prepared?
As you likely know, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published updates to the HIPAA/HITECH Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules on January 25, 2013. The new combined regulation (Omnibus Rule) became effective on March 26, 2013 with a compliance deadline set for September 23, 2013.

Among its many amendments, the Omnibus Rule requires modifications to the language in Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). These changes are materials and require amendments to existing BAAs. It is important to update you BAAs before the September 23, 2013 deadline.
